Approaches to participatory governance in culture

"PROSTOR"("Space")
Banja Luka, Bosna i Hezegovina

After the Apartman 3 (Project/exhibition for the popularization of modern art), we have decided for the apartment no.1 at the address Kordunaška 22, to lose its original aim and gain a new function. Its goal is to promote artists and art as such. „Prostor“ was created with the purpose to point out the necessity of the space for modern art and its meaning. „Prostor“ is dedicated to the research, presenting and documenting of modern artistic practices, networking of the artists from the other countries but also the position and the use of public spaces and the integration of the art into their component part. So far all activities have been organized by ourselves and on voluntary basis of the people involved in the work of „Prostor“. Because of its flexibility, Prostor offers wide range of possibilities, from the book promotions, film projections and different kind of performances. The very name of the art club itself indicates its ambiguity. Prostor shall also have some new activities consistent with the needs of artists and audience. Visual, film and literary art united in one is what makes our Prostor. To help the discovery of new forms of the artistic expression, to contribute the public awareness of the meaning of the culture and art as the representation of the personal identity. To present cultural and artistic projects which come from different cultural areas, and also to become part of international cultural streams. To encourage cooperation, exhibitions and the exchange of knowledge with the related institutions, associations and the initiatives of the individuals.

"PROSTOR "("Space") is dedicated to the research, presentation and documentation of contemporary art practice but also to networking of artists from other countries. "PROSTOR" presented work from many independent artists. All exhibitions so far have been organized by their own production and on a voluntary basis by the people involved in the work of "PROSTOR", but regardless of that, they were all very attended and covered by the media, which is evidenced by the photo documentation. Our main aim is for "PROSTOR" to remain a gathering place for young artists and become sustainable, which is why we need the support of the wider community and the region, because we want to connect with regional and international courses. In June 2016. we made a first eko-art festival KROVfest (Roof fest) which was held on the balcony of National and University Library. We have chosen public space and used for artistic purposes. During the festival, we presented work from many artists and performers.
