Meeting with the local community in Čakovec

On Saturday 18th of February 2017 the Platform for the Social centre Čakovec organized the "Prostoripacija!" event which gathered about 20 local artist, cultural and social activists and more than 100 visitors. Programme included series of presentations and other activities and the goal of the event was to open dialogue about public spaces, needs and possibilities of (co)governing public spaces within the local community but also programmes that these spaces should produce and preset to the local community and wider.

Kultura Nova Foundation, within the framework of the event, implemented the activity of consultations with the local community about the topic of participatory governance. The discussion with interested visitors included following topics: initiative of the Platform for the Social centre Čakovec in establishing the socio-cultural centre in Čakovec, local community awareness of the participatory governance issue, local community interest to participate in governance and programming of such a centre as well as revitalization of public spaces in the City of Čakovec that are not often used, cultural offer and potential that a socio-cultural center would have in the diversification and enrichment of the socio-cultural offer in the city.

Kultura Nova has organized the meeting with the local community in Čakovec within the "Approaches to Participatory Governance in Culture" project which is carried out with the support of the UNESCO International Fund for Cultural Diversity.
